The power of the moon cannot be overstated –it pulls the tides as well as our emotional oceans. According to lore (and the Farmer’s Almanac) a Full Moon on Halloween only happens once in a Blue Moon—every 18 to 19 years, to be exact. So, when that Full Moon is, quite literally, a Blue Moon, needless to say we will be treated to one stunning, particularly spooky sky on Halloween night. Also referred to as the ancient celebration of Samhain, Halloween marks a powerful turning point in the Celtic Wheel of the Year. So just how rare is this Blue Full Moon?

The very term “blue moon” is over 400 years old…when Shakespeare first wrote the words “blue moon” to mean something exceedingly rare. And you will not want to miss it-the next time you can expect a Full Moon on Halloween is in 2039! The impact of this Blue Moon will last till the New Moon on 15th November. So, needless to say…this is one enormously powerful time!

The October Full Moon ushers in the awakening of the realm of the Crone. My favorite? Crafting…Magickal Blue Moon Salts

The most powerful resource we can have in this world for protection is salt.

When salt has been infused with the power of the Blue Moon, it is particularly powerful and negates harmful energies. We call this magic salt.

Ingredients:

sea salt, vegan blue dye for color, a few drops of Lavender & Ylang Ylang essential oils and some sodalite crystals for truth.

Put all in a bowl and leave overnight under the Full Blue Moon. In the morning, put your magic salt in an airtight glass jar and tie a blue ribbon around it. Blue moon salt is excellent for healing spells and wisdom magic.
