As mindfulness has become an increasingly important aspect of life, people have started experiencing plenty of benefits from becoming yogi and Yoginis. So, if you’re interested in the process of achieving mental stability, undergoing the journey to become a yogi is something you may wish to consider.
But what exactly does this journey represent? Is it as complex as it sounds?
The simple answer is that you learn all the time and never stop growing as a person. However, you need to begin from somewhere. That being said, if you are ready to start the enlightening journey and improve yourself through yoga, all you need to do is stand still – and begin!
As easy and spontaneous as it seems, breathing carefully and being fully aware of the process takes time and practice. If you are a beginner and have never done any spiritual practice until now, the most important thing to remember is to be present in the moment. And there’s no better way to do that than by paying close attention to your breathing patterns.
For an experienced yogini (don’t worry, you will get there too), the asanas are a great way to properly position your body, allowing you to deepen your breaths and relax. Before enjoying the peace within, you need to be familiar with this groundwork.
All yogi and yoginis are focused on their breathing. Carefully follow how you breathe in and how you breathe out. Being mindful of your breath is the first step you take toward unlocking the benefits of this powerful ancient practice. Just like an experiencedpractitioner would do, you should start by slowly doing some of the poses, and put all of your focus on doing them right. Try to bend and contort into them as much as you can. After you learn how to do each pose properly, you can start paying more attention to coordinating mindful breathing while practicing.
We have all heard the saying – “In life, it’s all about balance.” However, sometimes it can be difficult to achieve that. The everyday stress we experience, as well as the feeling of being overwhelmed, often lower our energy levels and lead to exhaustion. The yogi world can help you turn all of that around. Give yourself some time to balance out everything in your life – from your responsibilities and activities to your relationship with yourself and all others.
If you are having a difficult time finding the right balance in your life, we suggest you change your perspective. Experienced yogi and yoginis are aware of the power ofPanta Rhei. Everything flows, and so does energy, too. We are not only a part of the universe – we are the universe. When you start noticing that opposing forces are pulling you in different directions, it is a sign that you need to take a break and try to restore the balance within.
Starting a practice that can help you improve your well-being and enlighten is always a good idea. However, be mindful of your expectations. It would be nice to start with a clear mind and don't expect to achieve everything overnight. Instead, go at your own pace and start slowly. Focus on achieving smaller milestones and gradually improve as time passes. And remember, every major success requires constant work and dedication.
When the world starts getting too loud for you, and when you start feeling like you are losing yourself, it is time to pause and go to that one place where you feel safe – your inner self. Asking yourself the right questions might result in some answers that surprise and excite you! Knowing how to interpret your thoughts and feelings and adapt your life’s pace according to your body’s needs is a sign that you’ve started thinking like an experienced yogini.
Sometimes, turning inward can include stepping away from situations or people that make you feel uncomfortable. At other times, it can mean indulging your mind and body in some other activities such as sculpting, walking, painting, writing, etc. It can even mean journaling about your day instead of spending half an hour on social media. Reflecting on the time you have invested into becoming a yogi or yogini and thinking about how you can improve is always a good idea.
Reflecting also means finding out where your heart and mind truly belong. So, you must ask yourself the following question: “Where do I feel like myself the most?” If you are having difficulty answering this question, all you need to do is turn to your soul and see what it tells you. Of course, this can change over time, but you don’t need to worry about it. Stick to the present moment and think about what currently makes you happy. After you have uncovered that, there is only one way to go – toward it!
One of the main things yogi and yoginis focus on is detaching themselves from the influence of social media. They are the search you need to do, the work you need to focus on, and the body and mind you need to listen to. Instead of showing each and every one of your small steps to the world, focus on doing them right. Start with simple practices in the comfort of your own home, or join a community if you need assistance or a push towards the right direction.
The journey of yogi and yoginis is filled with incredible milestones to achieve. Once you start experiencing the first benefits of practicing yoga, you will never return to your previous lifestyle. Enjoy an enlightened mood and body, and take proper care of yourself. The best way to nurture your well-being is to take this journey, step by step, and experience a more balanced way of life!
